Antabax POWER Graffiti Battle , Malaysia

Medicated soap brand provides platform for graffiti artists at National Day competition .
A PICTURE paints a thousand words, and with this in mind, local graffiti artists were challenged to create an artwork based on the theme, Power Malaysia, in conjunction with National Day celebrations . For over a month, the Antabax Graffiti Competition 2017 saw people sending in their interpretation of Malaysia’s dynamic spirit and uniqueness . From more than 50 online entries, 14 finalists were shortlisted by a panel of judges to compete in the live competition at the National Art Gallery in Kuala Lumpur .
National Art Gallery director-general Datuk Mohamed Najib Ahmad Dawa was happy to welcome the event at the gallery . “Today, the place is lively with young and old people and I see children enjoying themselves,” he said . “Events such as these are very much in keeping with the gallery’s objective of making arts, culture and heritage an integral part of daily Malaysian life . “We need to teach our population to appreciate the value of art from young,” he added . Mohamed Najib said the event would help local graffiti artists become entrepreneurs who are able to generate steady income and be financially independent .
Lam Soon Edible Oils Sdn Bhd household and personal care department marketing division senior general manager Francis Ng said the Antabax Power campaign was intended to show Malaysia’s uniqueness through the spirit and power of its people . He said schoolyard games like these would help detach children from their mobile devices and create moments of family bonding .
The artists , both solo and groups, were each given a panel to sketch on and three hours to complete their work to be in the running to win cash prizes worth RM20,000 . Young artists aged between eight and 18 , were shown the correct can-handling and basic techniques, safety procedures and hygiene at the clinic . Antabax has supported Malaysian arts, culture and heritage through numerous award-winning campaigns that aim to promote active and healthy lifestyles while bringing communities closer . The Antabax Power campaign is the brand’s latest nationwide initiative .
The campaign also featured the Juara Power Antabax schoolyard games, which introduced children to games such as batu seremban, hopscotch, eraser fight, jump rope and pick-up sticks, through game stations set up at the National Art Gallery on the day of the graffiti art finals .
